Gnimish's Latest: Attendence as of late
|
|
(note: this post is NOT directed at one or two individuals, but rather at an attitude made manifest by about 10-15 people right now)
The summer is always a time where people change schedules, and start spending less time on wow and more time outside or with friends. It always happens, we always struggle, and in the end it usually works out. That being said, the summer is drawing to a close, and we are still having some serious problems.
When we don't have enough people for a raid, I always have to ask myself, "do we not have enough people or are the people we have not showing up?". In this case it is certainly the latter. We have 42 people on RAS (people who have raided in the last 2 weeks) and yet can barely scrape together 20 on a good portion of our raid nights. Its a problem, there is no question about that. The question becomes; how do we address that problem?
There are basically 3 choices, recruit, replace, or we can show up. We could recruit another 5-10 people and just rotate things around when we happen to have extra online. The biggest problem with this option is that it leaves a lot of people riding the bench on a given night, which leads to a lot less experience, not to mention fun, in our raids. We can recruit new people and the people who barely sign on will simply only get to raid should be happen to be short on a night they are on (in other words almost never). This is somewhat harsh to people who have been with us for a long time, and will likely lead to a lot of unpleasantness. The third option is that people can start putting forward the 70%+ attendance that we need our people to have to fill raids.
I personally prefer the 3rd choice, but I cant MAKE that happen. All that the leadership of this guild can do is choice one or choice two. Which one is better, I don't really know. I'd rather not have to make the choice but if people don't change their attendance were going to have to figure something out. The bottom line is that its not possible for people to consistently blow off raids and then expect to get invited to the raids they happen to sign on for. The math doesn't work out, nor is it fair to people who are consistently online. Start showing up, or stop expecting a raid slot.
